WHO AM I?
I’m a queer non-binary artist located in the DMV area. I was raised a little west of D.C. in Front Royal, Virginia, which I’ll have you know is the Canoe Capital of Virginia. And I canoed twice while living there. I’m more of a kayak person.
My love for performing blossomed when I was young – I remember making up my own songs while playing games on the family computer around age 7. I found myself doing the school musical in 5th grade, and I couldn’t get enough of it. From then on I filled my time with choir, theater, and even an a cappella group; anything that involved singing. My passion for theater grew stronger in high school, all the way towards earning a BFA in Musical Theater.
Expressing myself through my art is cathartic, and I believe that everyone deserves access to making art. Theatre is so great in particular because it teaches you to be comfortable being a little silly, while you also learn to process complex emotions. And this is true at any age. Personally, I perform for the joy it brings me. I perform for my wonderful family and friends who always support me. I perform to be a part of the beautiful theatre community nestled in the DMV.
In my free time, I’m looking for a good coffee or matcha, going on a little nature walk, reading, seeing theatre, and singing in my car like it’s my 11 o’clock number.
HOW DO YOU SAY MY NAME?
Gill: the G is a soft G, like Giant, George, Gesture. My name is actually spelled the British way – several British people have told me this.
Rydholm: Just say it like you’re asking me to give you a Ride Home!
